We are a generation of enablers. 

God does have mercy, grace, and longsuffering, as said by Pastor John Collins of John Collins Ministries and Love That Cross Ministries, but He does not reward sin. We enable others to continue in their actions of self-destruction when we don’t take a stand as Christians, when we allow ourselves to continue a path of self-righteousness and stubborn pride, when we make excuses for our actions and rebel against the very Word that Jesus taught over two millennia ago. Pastor John Collins it is time to get things right.

“It is time to stop making excuses by just saying that we are all sinners because Jesus knows, God knows and every sinner knows that they can do better, be better and can influence others to do the same. Righteousness is very achievable in life and begins with humility and a willingness to sacrifice. We are not meant to sweep sin under the rug.  Sin is not to be sugar coated or justified.  Sin is meant to be talked about in the pulpit, because as Paul put it, the wages of sin is death….hell.

Hate the sin and not the sinner is all well and good to do but a sinner who continues in his sin without repentance and submission to the will of God through the salvation of Christ will eventually be judged as an enemy of God.

It has become easy to say that Jesus was the only perfect one and therefore there could never be any expectation for anyone else to live up to those standards although Jesus Himself said to be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. It has also been noted that Jesus would be hanging out with the sinners and not with the righteous if He were to be here today and although that is true He definitely would not be hanging out with them to condone their sin but to heal them and to help lead them to righteousness in order to provide them with salvation.

Salvation does not come packaged with an acceptance of sin. God may have mercy and love for His people but He definitely does not have an enabling heart and He does not reward rebellion. He is slow to wrath and longsuffering but eventually His perfect and righteous judgment will fall on all and everyone will receive what they deserve.

It is time to stop making excuses by just saying that we are all sinners because Jesus knows, God knows and every sinner knows that they can do better, be better and can influence others to do the same. In a recent broadcast, Pastor John Collins commented that if you say you are a Christian, it’s time right now, to get on your knees and pray, repent your sins, seek forgiveness and the gift of salvation that was offered on that Cross by Jesus’ sacrifice.  Every one of us is a sinner, including himself, says Pastor John Collins, and he gets on his knees each night, asks for forgiveness, and asks if he handled every situation correctly to glorify God, which is what God is looking for in worship, to glorify Him, to thank Him, to be obedient to Him.  Each day is an opportunity to get right, to get it better with God, Pastor Collins goes on to say.  Christians need to represent, to stand tall and live exemplary lives, to show that we live by the standards of Christ.  Pastors who are in the pulpit who say they are better, who have sexual relations with the congregation members, who are obsessed with success and money and more, are the hypocrites who have given Christianity a bad name, we are to be proclaiming and acting our faith, to represent for Christ, just as the disciples learned at the foot of Jesus Christ (Pastor John Collins, paraphrased). No matter what you have been through, God wants you home with Him, to come to Him in humbleness, seeking forgiveness.

“It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” John 6:45 (NKJV).

The teachings of Jesus were insightful and revealed the heart of the law. He came with miracles and truth and compassion and mercy. He came with clarity and sadness for the people. It is sad to see people refuse to get right with God, to see people rebel in their hearts and choose their own will over God’s will.

It is sad to watch people choose to be sinners and choose to harm others to lift themselves up. Believe me, there is still plenty today for Jesus to weep over.

Our world is filled with people choosing to self-govern and claim rational thought for themselves and believing that there is no God, that their own moral code will sustain them and see them through this life and that there is no cause to concern themselves with an eternal life. There are people on the pulpits sharing the good news without teaching the requirements of being a follower of Christ. There are stubborn people who choose to believe that there is not a right or a wrong way to worship God and that we get to self-determine our God and how we navigate our faith in our life and have concluded that by doing so we will enjoy the outcome that we have decided upon. It doesn’t work that way! God came and gave instructions on how to worship Him. Jesus came and gave insight into the law and gave instructions on how to worship Him. Nothing has changed.

Grace is given and faith is free but obedience is required to claim them. You cannot claim to be a person of faith and have fellowship with God when you are living a life of selfishness and unfaithfulness. If you are a greedy, lying, cheating, vain, malicious, gossiper and drunk then you are not obeying God. If you are full of bitterness and resentment and refuse to forgive those who you believe have done you wrong then you are not in obedience with God. If you are consumed with materialism and are obsessed with your looks and your appearance then you are not in obedience with God. If you are abusing drugs and your body and are not a believer then you are not in obedience with God. If you are not in obedience with God then you will not see the kingdom of heaven when you die. It really is that simple.

You must obey God to claim the gifts of God. Salvation is claimed by those who believe because those who believe will submit to the will of God and will obey God. I am not talking about casual belief but the belief that produces results in a life, belief that produces change and purity in a life and belief that transforms a life of darkness into one of light. There is always an opportunity to truly claim Jesus as your savior, not in word only but in truth. You know whether your life is truly a life that would have God’s stamp of approval and there is just no reason to live in denial. There is not any time to waste on self-indulgence and sin. It is time to examine your existence and if you are not right with God then it is time to get right with Him. Believe in the Son and claim salvation.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” John 15:5-6 (NKJV).

What kind of example are we showing our children in public through our actions and our clothing? What are we communicating to others with what we wear, what we say, what we do, how we act? 

Pastor John Collins writes:

“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6 (NKJV).

We all know about the birds and the bees, which is just a metaphor for how reproduction takes place and I am not even sure parents use that phrase any longer to describe the ‘talk’ that children receive about sex. Many children are knowledgeable long before the talk takes place anyhow and with our society being as forward and lewd as it is, it is hard to ignore what goes on between a man and a woman when it comes to intimacy. I am not sure that there are many virgins that make it to the altar. Hormones are part of our physical makeup for a reason. You cannot continue to reproduce if you do not desire to have sex. That being said, too many have allowed this intimate connection to mean nothing and too many allow their bodies to be used by too many. Sex is not sacred anymore and unfortunately modesty has become all but non-existent today. There are some that are choosing to get back to a more decent dress, but for the most part, the less you wear, the more you show the sexier you are and the more likely it is that you will get some.

How pathetic! Our society is sex driven and sex crazy. People go out in public with every intention of inciting lust in others. Our children have grown up watching people undress on television, engage in lustful situations on television and behave in provocative ways with all of the approval and cheering on of the viewers. It is disgusting to see young teenage girls and young ladies in shorts that leave nothing to the imagination, dresses that cling to every curve with breasts hanging out and butts bouncing. It is disgusting to see young men in clinging tops or no tops at all and pants that are either too tight or not even pulled up with their drawers hanging out. It is awful to see parents strut around in clothing that is designed to entice others and make people stare all the while thinking that it is their prerogative to dress as they please as they blatantly give an example of lust and loose morals to their children. This slutty dressing by both men and women is a deliberate stumbling block for others. We are designed to desire to become intimate with another and when a person is without the faith of Christ then it is nearly impossible to resist the temptation to lust.

Lust can overwhelm a person in a moment. Lust can cause a faithful person to stumble and it can destroy lives of the weak. It is a choice that you make when you dress your body each day and it should be a choice that is made with modesty in mind. Modesty may seem old fashioned and ignorant to some but it is a choice of wisdom to refuse to allow your flesh to become an object of lust for others and a stumbling block for the weak. You have control of your body and what you put on it and how you carry yourself. It is up to you to move through this world as a representative of God, a servant of Christ and an obedient follower of His Commandments. Do not allow your flesh to become sin for another and protect your eyes from the temptation of lust. Be aware of how you look upon those whom you would find desirable and be willing to turn away from any such display that may cause you to stumble in your walk with Christ.

“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST: GOOD INTENTIONS DON'T CUT IT

The saying goes “the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.” Superficially, this can mean something to the effect that if you say you are going to do it, do it. If you promise to do it, then do it, or what you say and do is meaningless. Pastor John Collins of Love That Cross Ministries and Pastor John Collins Ministries puts a more complete view on the saying:  You can have all the best intentions in the world, and even act on those intentions and do the right things for people, but if your heart isn’t focused on God and the salvation that is given by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross, and getting closer to Them in your heart and soul, then all the good acts and intentions that you do throughout your life are meaningless, you are not going to make it to heaven, and hell is pretty full of people who had good intentions (paraphrased, Pastor John Collins).

Don’t be lazy in your faith, or have the expectation that you can confess your sins twenty minutes before you die so you can cover your bases.  Saying that you believe in Jesus Christ and God is empty unless you have the full commitment of your heart and the opportunity to act upon that faith.  The road to salvation begins in an instant, it takes a lifetime to continue the path, work out your faith, and face the tests and challenges that build the faith that begins with accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  It isn’t just giving lip service says Pastor John Collins.

“It is time to wake up and get right with God. God doesn’t fool around and God will not cease from being God but He will continue to be that great and almighty Lord that sees everything and everyone as they truly are and He will be the one who has the last laugh. It is not okay to take your life, your actions, your words and your feelings lightly. They all matter and they all will be taken into account when it comes to judging your soul. Each person will be judged and each person will either go up or go down and it really is that simple.” (Pastor John Collins, February, 2018).

We live in dangerous times, as have all of those who ever walked this earth. It is a perilous thing to live without faith and it is more dangerous to live without belief in the Son of God than it is to live in a land filled with terrorists and civil unrest. People pay attention to what they can see and people will fear what they can sense can cause them harm but people don’t fear what they can’t see and when people walk without faith then they are blind and without the ability to perceive the danger to their souls.

It is not a time to be casual in your faith. It is time to wake up and get right with God. God doesn’t fool around and God will not cease from being God but He will continue to be that great and almighty Lord that sees everything and everyone as they truly are and He will be the one who has the last laugh. It is not okay to take your life, your actions, your words and your feelings lightly. They all matter and they all will be taken into account when it comes to judging your soul. Each person will be judged and each person will either go up or go down and it really is that simple.

You have no guarantee of tomorrow and you only get this one chance at life so take it seriously and don’t put off until another day your relationship with God. God sent Jesus to die for you and you should be thanking Jesus for the strength and obedience that was in His soul so that your soul could be saved. You should cherish and nurture your relationship with Jesus and praise God always. Come to know what is expected of you and do that. The rules are not going to change and the gospel must be obeyed just as Jesus has said. There will not be favorites given a pass because they are just so cute or so charming. There are lots of good people in hell today and there will be many more that follow. Do what you must so that you are not one of them.

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.” John 14:23-24 (NKJV).

We are not alone, and we have never been alone, writes Pastor John Collins of Love That Cross Ministries and Pastor John Collins Ministries.  God is with us.  Jesus Christ is with us.  When you look at the birth of a child that wasn’t expected to survive, and that child not only survives, but survives healthily, that is a miracle, and that is the work of God.  Someone is unexplainably cured of a disease that would be a death sentence otherwise, that is a work of God.  When a person cries out in desperation, at the end of their proverbial rope, with nothing left inside them to give, yet instead of giving up, instead of becoming an addict or a victim, they stand strong and continue forward in faith which is strength in knowing Jesus.

“We are bombarded with temptations and are weak. It is easy to be swayed by what you can see, hear, touch, taste and smell. We are creatures that love our pleasures. We are sometimes easily impressed. We are sometimes easily intimidated. We are sometimes easily blinded to the truth…. Pastor John Collins often speaks of Jesus being everything we need.  Pastor John Collins goes on to say that the challenge for most of us is to come to the realization that we cannot do everything, and we cannot do it alone.  Pastor John Collins will be the first one to tell you he wasn’t always a Christian, that he was so far from the Cross that he needed binoculars to see it, but now Pastor John Collins is so close, he gets splinters in his hands.  What does that mean?  To come to the realization that you cannot do it alone is the way to finding Jesus.  We cannot handle everything alone.  We aren’t meant to, preaches Pastor John Collins.

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,’ Says the Lord. ‘But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.’” Isaiah 66:1-2 (NKJV).

He who is poor is he who is humble. He who is contrite is he who knows that he is not without sin. He who trembles is he who is in awe of God.

We are in need of our Savior. We are bombarded with temptations and are weak. It is easy to be swayed by what you can see, hear, touch, taste and smell. We are creatures that love our pleasures. We are in need of Jesus. We are in need of God. We are not alone and have never been alone. Sometimes we forget that this world is bigger than our realities. Sometimes we forget that there is more to life than what we can see and what we seek to control. We need to stop in our tracks and remember the Lord.

We are in need of our Savior. We have been given life everlasting by God in the form and sacrifice of His Son. We need to become humble people who are grateful for the gift. We need to become contrite people who know that we cannot save ourselves. We need to become people who know what is acceptable and good to God and know what we should be seeking forgiveness for. We need to acknowledge our natures and come to the Cross.

Faith is not futile. Faith is not useless. God is not absent nor is He uncaring. God is not imaginary. God is here in your hearts. God is wanting to be your God and to give you the gift of Jesus. God has provided a way for you and for me.

Do not ignore the call of God in your life. Do not let your days pass you by without the love of our Savior. Be proactive in your beliefs and trust that submission to God will indeed save your soul.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV).

The Holy Bible has been described as “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth” for Christians.  It contains history, instruction, and advice for daily living that applies to living today just as it did when the scriptures were first written. Humans have taken the word of God and twisted and distorted the messages found there to suit the purposes of the people preaching the word, rather than what the intention in.  Bibles have been transliterated and retranslated repeatedly since the collection was first compiled thousands of years ago.  There was a time when only priests were reading the scriptures, and the general population was kept in ignorance of the words meant for all.  One monk was tortured for transcribing and translating the Bible and giving the pages to people so that they could read for themselves.  The results of the translations, transliterations, the restrictions and conflicts have resulted in a Gospel that is in need of redemption itself-Pastor John Collins is committed to redeeming the word of the Gospel so that all can hear the truth that was taught when Jesus Christ had his ministry, as an aside, Jesus based his preaching on the Old Testament scriptures, we have both Old and New Testament documents to draw from, and we are still struggling to understand what God wants for us.  Pastor John Collins preaches God is in the business of saving souls, He is not a genie in the sky who grants us our every wish, says Pastor John Collins.  God demands humility.  Pastor John Collins goes on to say He is a loving and just Father who does care for us and expects us to become like His Son Jesus Christ in our actions and deeds, with that humility.  Jesus Christ is our example for how we are to live our lives and the Bible is the book of directions on how to do this!

Pastor John Collins preaches that we need to open our Bibles and encourage one another.  The times are changing and hope is coming.  The prosperity that God promises is not the kind that is taught by those like Joel Osteen, Paula White, Joyce Meyer, and Creflo Dollar.  God’s prosperity is based on whether you are doing what you are told, are you serving God the correct way?

Pastor John Collins writes:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV).

The bible is for believers, not non-believers so you cannot hold all people to the standard in which God holds you. The Christian needs to be excellent and committed. It is no time for lackluster faith and subpar obedience to the word of God. For the believer in the work of our Lord Jesus Christ, it is his responsibility to come to know the word of God, the history of the plan of God and how your own salvation needs to be obtained through a commitment to understanding the spirit of God and applying this knowledge to your own life so that you may remain unstained in this world.

You cannot have the expectation that others in this world will live by your faith or that any will respect your faith in God. The bible is there for you to come to know the expectations that God has for you and for you to become a true disciple of Christ. The rest is up to you so that you may put into practice what you come to know and you do that through prayer and trial and error but with a never-ending commitment to the path of righteousness. You must not become discouraged by those who choose to dismiss the bible, mock the bible or ridicule your belief in the bible. You must hold to the truth of the word of God because it is the beginning and constant encouragement for your faith as you go through life. It is not for you to judge those who dismiss the bible but to have patience and compassion for the lost. There are more and more that fall away each day so it is up to you to hold tight to what is right, true and good.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV).
